Compiling the Guest List
The first thing to consider when putting together your guest list is whether you want an intimate or large wedding. The next defining factor is budget. You also need to take into account the requirements of your family, size of the reception venue etc.
Begin your list by drawing up a list of;
* Family.
* Family Friends (you may need to talk to your parents about this one, as they may have their own opinions!).
* Mutual Friends
* Brides Friends
* Grooms Friends
* Business/Work Colleagues
* Partners or the above (if you do not know the partners they need not be invited if you haven't met provided they are not married or living together).
* Kids (a kid free occasion will dramatically reduce costs).
Once you have completed the above list multiply the number of guests by expected cost per head and see if you are within budgets. If you are over budget it is time to for some in depth discussion about cutting back the list.
The other option is to try and cut costs in other ways. Consider;
* Reducing the pre-dinner drinks
* Having a 2 course instead of a 3 course meal
* Changing the wine list
* Ending the reception earlier
* Having a DJ instead of a band
