25 More Ways to Save on your Wedding

Saving money on as many aspects of a wedding as possible is an important factor for many couples, especially in these tough economic times. Whilst some opportunities to save money will easily present themselves, there are many others that may not be immediately obvious!

Here are 25 ways to save money on your wedding without compromising on your dreams.

1. If you want to fly business class on your honeymoon you can save as much as 70% by booking with a lesser known carrier such as Air India.
2. When booking hotels directly it is always a good idea to ask for their best rate or rack rate. Never accept the first quote given and be prepared to negotiate. If you happen to work for a large company ask hotels about corporate rates and be ready to flash a business card at the reception desk!
3. Your wedding flowers can add up to a significant portion of your wedding budget so make them work for you by using your bridesmaids bouquets as table centers or to decorate your wedding cake.
4. When looking for vendors and suppliers always ask around for personal recommendations. People will always be ready to recommend reputable suppliers and vendors and you can be sure of getting value for money.
5. Save money on your drinks bill by using a venue that doesn’t have a drinks license – they won’t be able to charge you a corkage fee on each bottle. Also look around for free glass hire offers from wine merchants and supermarkets.
6. If you are supplying the drinks for the reception yourselves consider going on a booze cruise to pick up crates of beer and wine from warehouse and wine merchants. Buying this way is often far cheaper than buying locally.
7. Save money on your catering costs by keeping you day reception numbers to a minimum, especially if you are planning a formal sit down meal. You can invite everyone else to the evening party.
8. Consider booking your honeymoon flights for late in the day or early in the morning as these times tend to be cheaper than flights during normal daytime hours.
9. Double up on your details such as using your wedding favors as place cards as well.
10. When choosing your flowers opt for locally grown and in season blooms which will be much cheaper than more exotic varieties that have to be flown in.
11. Hire a stylist who can do both your hair and make up rather than hiring separate stylists. It will cost you less and make for a less hectic atmosphere on the day.
12. Give your guests disposable wedding cameras to supplement your professional wedding photographs. It makes for some great ‘as it happened’ shots that you may have otherwise missed.
