When to Send Out the Baby Shower Invitation

Itis important to send out baby shower invitations in a timely fashion.  Too late and guests will find it hard to plan for the date and too soon and the date may get forgotten.  The most common rule of thumb is to send the shower invitations out four weeks in advance.  Once the date is set, mark four weeks earlier on your calendar for mailing.

The date for mailing is important when guests are arriving from out of town.  Family and friends need time to plan and make sure that everything is taken care of ahead of time in order to make the date.  It is not uncommon to mention the date of the shower to out-of-town guests even prior to receiving the invitation so that further planning may take place.

What to Include on the Baby Invitations

The invitations for a baby shower should include specific items to identify when and where the event is to take place.  The baby invitations may include the following:

·         The name of the mommy-to-be and the name of the host throwing the shower

·         The date and time of the event

·         The baby shower location accompanied with clear directions

·         RSVP information (including telephone number)

·         The theme of the baby shower (optional)

·         Where the mommy-to-be is registered for gifts

·         If the dress is formal or casual

·         Information for the guests to be aware of.  For example, do they need to bring a pack of diapers for the mommy-to-be to accompany their gift?
