Wedding Budget
Below we have put together a list of who traditionally
pays for what. However, as couples are now older when they get
married and are more independent than they used to be, it is now
quite common for couples to pay for a large part or all of their
wedding.
Be sure to plan ahead and have a budget and
savings goals.
Traditionally, who pays for what?
Bride's family
- Press announcements
- Engagement party.
- Ceremony and reception decorations
- Musicians and/ or entertainment.
- Groom's wedding ring.
- Groom's present.
- Presents for bride's attendants.
- Bride's dress.
- Bride and attendants' hair and makeup.
- All reception expenses (except alcohol).
- Wedding flowers
- Stationery and guest gifts.
- Wedding cake.
- Photography.
Groom's family
- Engagement and wedding rings for the bride.
- All fees connected with use of the church
/ ceremony (organist, choir etc.).
- Fees for legal papers.
- Fee for marriage celebrant.
- Rehearsal party.
- Presents for groom's attendants.
- Corsages for groomsmen.
- His own wedding suit and accessories.
- Bride's wedding present.
- Transport to the ceremony for himself and
attendants.
- Transport for the wedding party plus both
sets of parents after the ceremony.
- Alcohol at the wedding reception.
- Honeymoon.
Attendants
- Pre-wedding parties and bridal showers for
the bridal couple.
- Their wedding outfit and accessories.
- Gifts for the bridal couple.
